Efforts are currently underway in Detroit to consolidate neighborhoods and economize vital services.
This project proposes to increase the population density near the center of the city by creating a back half to the city through the development of a year-round floating home community on the Detroit River.
This community would serve as a catalyst for downtown redevelopment by presenting possibilities for private sector investment and a unique solution to increasing residential density around the city's core, while providing additional home ownership opportunities in a vital downtown location.
Development of the community and the homes within would be required to follow guidelines for LEED certification.
